Late response to the Nike article

I had to think about this article for a while. Mr.Hoke serves as an example of what I should've done years ago and what I should be doing now. He not only sketched, but actively deconstructed sneakers in his spare time as a youth. Mr.Hoke states that none of his ideas are final and is never concerned with the details of his drawing. He also doesn't limit himself to just sneakers, preferring to draw human anatomy and architecture. Along with his own ideas, he also encourages his team to exercise their creativity by experimenting with different shoe designs. The drive to improve and the need to constantly draw are things a designer should hone.

Response to "Rethinking the Way We Sit Down" Video

I enjoyed Mr.Diffirent anecdote about how he became a chair designer instead of a plane designer. I can relate to the need of still figuring out the major I want to study. It's also clever that Mr.Diffirent used his skills from designing planes and applied it to how he designed chairs. Moving on to the heart of his presentation, the need to identify all of the factors needed to make a product work is an important consideration. For example, Mr.Diffirent's chairs are designed to not only take into account the weight of a person, but also the individual needs that are to be accommodated (like the way a headrest needs to be positioned in order for the user to use as little effort in moving their head as possible). The important thing in any design in understand not only how the mechanism works, but also how it translates to everyday living and casual interaction.
